Woodlands Historic Park Wasps

Wasp (family Braconidae) at Woodlands Historic Park
Parasitic Wasp, mid January. Body plus head length about 10mm.

This wasp was observed spending a long time standing motionless inside crevices in the bark of a Red Gum with it's antennae touching the bark. It is therefore a parasite of an insect living under the bark, probably a Beetle larva.

Note the very long ovipositor.
