Woodlands Historic Park Insects

Grassland Copper Butterfly (Lucia limbariaa) at Woodlands Historic Park
Grassland Copper Butterflies (Lucia limbaria) feeding on Lemon Beauty-heads, early Feb.

Wingspan: 24 mm

The caterpillars feed on both weeds and native plants in the Oxalis family which are fairly common in the park. While this photo was taken on a small patch of native grassland on the Melbourne Airport Land, we can expect to see the butterfly in the park as well.
