Woodlands Historic Park Insect Eggs

Eggs of Eurymelops rubrovittata at Woodlands Historic Park
These eggs belong to the Red-lined Gumtree Hopper, but those of other Gumtree Hoppers are similar. The insect lays its eggs in slots cut into a small branch, and covers them with a waxy foam. Note that ants protect the eggs as well as attending the nymphs and usually the adults.
