Woodlands Historic Park Wasps

wingless black female wasp with red legs (family Tiphiidae) at Woodlands Historic Park
A female parasitic flower wasp. When we have seen females by themselves they have always had this posture. Presumably she is on the alert for a passing male to carry her off.

A similar looking female is shown here mating.
